Moist clay, slip & raw materials

Clay & Raw Materials

Standard and Laguna clay bodies, casting slip, and dry raw materials, available by the box or by the pallet.

About the category

What we carry, and why

Clay is heavy, perishable in the sense that it dries out, and expensive to ship across the country. That is exactly why a local supplier matters. We stock Standard Clay and Laguna bodies across the firing range, from low-fire earthenware for classrooms to cone 10 stoneware and porcelain for studios, and we deliver in bulk across the metroplex so you are not paying freight on water weight.

Beyond moist clay we carry casting slip and the dry raw materials studios use to mix their own bodies and glazes: feldspars, silica, frits, oxides, and ball clays. If you are setting up a school program or scaling a production studio, talk to us about case and pallet pricing before you order a box at a time.

What To Think About

Buying Clay well

A few things we talk through at the counter before anyone commits.

Match clay and glaze to the same cone

A cone 6 glaze on a cone 04 body is a crack waiting to happen. Pick your firing temperature first, then choose a body and glazes that mature together.

Buy what you will use in a season

Moist clay stiffens over months. For most studios, ordering on a regular delivery schedule beats stockpiling pallets that dry before you reach them.

Ask about reclaim

If you are throwing in volume, a reclaim and pugging plan saves real money. We can point you to the pugmills and slip that make it practical.
