A kiln is a machine that runs at temperatures hot enough to melt rock, and like any machine it drifts and wears. Elements lose their punch, thermocouples read low, relays stick, and one day a load comes out underfired for no reason you can see. Most online retailers cannot help you with that. We can, because we service kilns as a core part of what we do.
We diagnose and repair Skutt, L&L, AMACO, Olympic, and Paragon kilns, and we are happy to look at other brands. Element replacement, thermocouple swaps, relay and controller work, brick repair, and full firing-uniformity tune-ups using witness cones top to bottom. For schools and studios on a firing schedule, regular maintenance keeps a kiln out of the failure that always seems to happen the week before a deadline.
